Diabetes: a chronic illness that takes over the body and affects how the body turns food into energy

Pancreas: a glandular organ located in the abdomen, digests food and manages the use of sugar for energy after digestion

Insulin: a hormone that is produced by the pancreas that maintains blood sugar and helps convert food into energy

Glucose: the main type of sugar in the blood and is the major source of energy for the body's cells

Type One Diabetic: chronic illness where the pancreas creates little to no insulin needed to convert food to energy

Type Two Diabetic: the pancreas creates and uses insulin but too much is produced which causes high blood sugar can lead to disorders of the circulatory, nervous and immune systems
